(November 3, 2019) Over the past couple of years we have introduced SoulTrackers to a couple artists on the rise. One is Gary, Indiana singer and songwriter, Nichelle Colvin, who has won fans for her sharp pen and expressive performances, and the other Perth, Australia-based producer and musician JazzyD, who we’ve followed via his very nice collaborations with Kenya, Deli Rowe, Amber Sweeney and more.
We never dreamed that these two favorites would team up, but team up they have, on a song that takes a major life event, and lyrically turns it in a different direction. We all love love, and the idea of a wedding proposal makes us smile. But what about a situation that is more ambigous, when it isn’t clear that “yes” is the right answer?
That is the quandary that JazzyD and Nichelle address on “What If I Say,” a song that smoothly delivers a punch that feels so real. And they deliver the goods. JazzyD tells us “I have always been a big fan of Nichelle and her ability to write lyrics outside of the box. I knew that I just had to produce something worthy of her skills not only as a writer but as a singer too. We just had to collaborate together to make something special.”
