(July 26, 2025) Jase4Real never strayed away from family or his musical legacy even as he continues to craft that legacy. Jase is the lead singer of the 1990s sibling singing group Soul for Real. That group gave us one of the signature “boy band” cuts of that era with their ballad “Candy Rain,” which was the title track of their 1995 album.
Jase’s stage name is an homage that family group, and Soul for Real still performs 30 years after their first big hit. Even as the Jase4Real tours and performs with Soul for Real, the singer/songwriter is hard at work on new material. His latest single “Rather Be,” is featured in this First Listen.
“Rather Be” finds Jase4Real talking in the familiar language of love and romance. However, he comes from a more mature and transparently sensual level on “Rather Be.” The arrangement incorporates the elements of modern R&B, such as hip-hop infused percussion. However, the keyboards have a sound that might remind some listeners of late 70s/early 80s R&B and the guitar has a bit of an Afro-Caribbean vibe. Check out “Rather Be” here.
