Simple never goes out of style. Heartfelt sincerity, an unambiguous lyric, and live instrumentation still goes a long way to connect to listeners in a way that an over-produced, synthetic number rarely can, no matter how catchy. Such is the case with this Soul Features captured performance of an almost hushed “Carry You Home” from Jake Issac’s forthcoming EP — one that is simply sublime.
This clean gem’s architects are UK singer-songwriters Jake Issac and JP Cooper, up and coming musicians part of a young vanguard of performers out of the UK who can be just as effective stripped down as they are in a full, layered production number. Opening for the likes of Ella Eyre and Lake Street Dive, Jake Issac is already stepping out strong with a newly Island Records-signed JP Cooper right behind him. Be on the lookout for Jake Issac’s third EP, Warchild, and plenty more from the dreadlocked Cooper, who recently toured with R&B Diva Angie Stone and has a series of EPs on Bandcamp. Both stars are clearly on the rise.
