First Listen: J Brown gives old school feel to “Sunrise Sunset”

(October 21, 2018) “Good music is about passion,” says singer and songwriter J Brown. “When I write or sing a song, I put my all into it. And I want people to feel that.” The preacher’s kid from Detroit has been singing since he was a child, and it became his lifetime passion.

Brown appeared to have his first break when Fugee’s member and producer Wyclef Jean signed his group E2G to a recording contract. But no music arrived, as the group disbanded. But J Brown’s musical aspirations had just begun.

He’s now back in Detroit and working on an album, and from the sounds of the first single to hit our desks, it is going to be something that SoulTrackers like. “Sunrise Sunset” is a breezy midtempo that has an old school flair to it, highlighted by Brown’s attractive falsetto.

We’re looking forward to hearing more from J Brown, but for now we’re enjoying “Sunrise Sunset.” Check it out below and tell us what you think.
