(August 12, 2026) Isaiah Collier is a musician who blends jazz, African music, gospel, and social activism into his music – he wants to leave his listeners with something more than a good melody. Collier writes and plays to inspire and educate his listeners. In that way, he is like his Biblical namesake who proclaimed good news to the poor while also issuing warnings to those who are unjust.
“Joy,” Collier’s new song and title track from his new EP of the same name, finds him injecting much needed cheer into a gloomy world. The track opens with a piano riff that might remind some of summertime joy that Sly & the Family Stone gave us back in the day. That riff is soon joined by swelling violins and light touches on the cymbals and triumphant horns.
The lyrics encourage listeners to look to God and maintain joy even through life’s trials and uncertainties. Those troubles are around us constantly. We need to constantly look for those things that bring joy to our lives because remaining down in the dumps is not healthy. Isaiah Collier’s new tune is musical helium that will help us rise above our circumstances.
