(April 2, 2022) Multi-instrumentalist Ian Roller is definitely on a roll. After nabbing collaborative works with heavy hitters like Portugal. The Man, Bryson Tiller and DJ Quik, the L.A.-based producer is dropping new, original content on our ears. And with his latest single, what his team is calling a “digital 45,” he’s showing off a different kind of work.
On “Rise,” a collaboration effort led by talented vocalist + trumpeter Kyla Moscovich, he creates a peaceful funky oasis in what can be best described as orchestral neo-soul. And the lyrics come with sweet ministry as the song empowers us to deal with the struggles of life, even the internal wars that harbor inside us all. He’s surrounded by a strong army of power players including bassist John Urban and Paul Cartwright on violins. And with a punchy ?uestlove power, Adam Deitch (50 Cent, Ledisi, Average White Band) brings the fierce heat on the drums and percussion.
Check out this First Listen from Roller + Moscovich and let us know if it “rises” to the occasion.
