(August 13, 2025) Realizing that a relationship has come to an end is typically not a pleasant experience but it’s necessary in order for each person to move forward and find something better. Detroit-born, Toronto-based songstress Honoré sings about that realization in her new song, “It’s Over.” In the lyrics, she relates that she and her ex will have to tell everyone they know that their fairytale has run its course despite their best efforts to maintain it.
This song feels like a fresh throwback because from the opening note, “It’s Over”pulls you in with the sound of 70s Soul, as you hear the combination of Honoré’s band, the Detroit Lovers, and the Detroit Soulchestra, an 18-piece ensemble featuring full brass section, harp, and strings. Listening to this new track can make you feel like you’re going down Memory Lane, which is fitting because Honoré has been compared vocally to R&B greats like Minnie Riperton, Deniece Williams and Angela Bofill.
Recalling the days when records had A-sides and B-sides, “It’s Over” is on Honore’s debut double A-side release via Soul Jones Records. The single’s counterpart “Innocent and Real” has already gained traction on the UK Soul Chart and no doubt “It’s Over” will do the same.
The double A-side release is available worldwide on streaming platforms August 8th. While “It’s Over” marks the end of a relationship, we believe it signals a great new chapter for Honoré. Let’s welcome herto SoulTracks!
