(April 15, 2018) Sometimes, we feel an overwhelming need for someone to “cover” us. And that’s the story of the new song written by Linda Walker, who pastors a church in Tupelo, Mississippi.
“One Sunday morning while I was in route to Tupelo, I was thinking about the importance of insurance policies and being covered while driving on the dangerous highways. At that moment, the spirit of the Lord whispered to me and said, ‘That type of insurance is temporary, but I have a policy that will cover your soul and body eternally.’ I said, ‘Lord I need your covering.’ That same Sunday morning, I told Elizabeth Ware about the lyrics, but I could no longer remember the tune.
“Later on, God gave Elizabeth a vision of the song. She went to sleep one night and God gave her the tune, the beat, the harmony and the melody. Elizabeth was technically asleep, but she somehow was able to pick up her phone and record herself singing. LOL! However, it was complicated distinguishing the lyrics, but she had the tune. Also, in her sleep, she added the words ‘OH LORD I NEED YOU.’ This completed, enhanced and gave the song the finishing touch.”
And the song that they delivered, performed by the vocal group Group 2 Praise, is a winner. Check it out below. It is our newest SoulTracks First Listen
