The events that took place in Baltimore surrounding the death of Freddie Gray had a deep impact on performers throughout the entertainment world. Prince even wrote a song about Gray’s tragic death. We’ve also seen how current events have inspired a new generation of singers, hip-hop artists and songwriters to rediscover the value of the oft-mocked art form from the 1960s – the protest anthem.
Gray’s death definitely resonated with the funk outfit Groove Stu because the group hails from the Charm City and they have penned a deeply affecting and infectious protest/inspirational anthem titled “Change The World.” Give it a listen. We’re sure this is a message that all people of good will can get behind.
