(January 6, 2026) Gregory Porter has become one of those artists who makes us drop everything when he releases new music. There is no modern singer quite like him. His rich, deep voice wraps itself in a unique fashion around jazz, soul and any other musical style he touches.
Porter can now be heard on a song from the new Netflixmovie, Goodbye June. It is a touching ballad about facing the death of a loved one during the holiday season.
A mother’s song can never be unheard
Her soothin’ voice can calm the stormy seas with just one word
Little ones, you’ll miss me when I’m gone
Go ahead and cry, but not for long
Written by Porter and produced by longtime collaborator Troy Miller, “Good Goodbye” is a lush ballad that opens with a simple piano, letting Porter’s rich baritone take center stage before opening into a tasteful orchestral piece. It is stunning in its straightforward beauty, and there is no other modern singer who could match Porter’s performance.
