First Listen: Snoh Aalegra shines on “Godfather of Harlem” cut

(November 15, 2019) Lots of folks are talking the new television series, Godfather of Soul, starring Forest Whitaker. The rough and tumble series tells the true story of crime boss Bumpy Johnson, and his battles to take control of the streets of Harlem.

The show has also created a well received series of songs, curated by producer Swizz Beatz. And the newest song release from the show is a cool midtempo number featuring up and coming vocalist Snoh Aalegra. “Wolves Are Out Tonight” has a 70s funk backdrop and infectious beat, contrasted nicely by Allegra’s emotional, somewhat vulnerable vocals.

The song captures the period well without being too reverential. We think SoulTrackers will dig this one. Check out “Wolves Are Out Tonight” and tell us what you think.
