(December 20, 2024) By any measure, she is on the Mount Rushmore of soul music singers. And now entering her ninth decade, the legendary Gladys Knight is still going strong. The divine Miss Gladys returns today with a brand new single that comes from the Great American Family network movie A Little Woman’s Christmas, titled “Joy of Christmas.”
Singing with vocalist and actor Javen (who also stars in the movie), Knight delivers a powerful ballad that recalls both the sacred and the secular joys of this most important day. With gospel-infused call and response vocal arrangements, “Joy of Christmas” feels like the type of song that could be performed from the pulpit or in front of your mirror while holding a hairbrush. And the vocal performances by both artists are absolutely top notch.
