(August 21, 2024) Incredibly, it was a half century ago that singer and songwriter George McCrae topped the charts in virtually every country in the world with his Florida-soaked dance classic, “Rock Your Baby.” It began a long career for McCrae as a favorite on both sides of the Atlantic.
It had been a few years since we had heard new music from him, but last year McCrae stormed back on the charts with “Step Into My Heart,” a song written and co-performed by European singer/songwriter Lynda Law (“I Don’t Want Your Love”).
Happily, Law and the 79 year old McCrae are back together for the brand new single that recalls the luscious disco sounds of the late 1970s. “Gotta Have It” is as Law says, “all about love and how people are willing to go the extra mile to have that love.”
The song will certainly bring some dancefloor nostalgia to music fans of a certain age, and should even get the younger set moving to the disco sound.
