(September 24, 2019) If you haven’t tuned in to the vibes coming from rising R&B singer-songwriter Gallant, you most certainly need to. With his debut studio LP Ology, the Columbia, MD native received critical acclaim from music critics and has since amassed a number of live television appearances (Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Later…with Jools Holland) and notable nods (Elvis Duran’s Artist of the Month). Now he’s back again with new music, a forthcoming album (Sweet Insomnia; due out in October) and a hot single now burning up Urban AC.
With his cool Maxwell-akin falsetto and an adorning Quiet Storm-channeling acoustic guitar, “Sleep on It” speaks to the very heart of make-up sex. After a night of the “fussing and fighting,” Gallant chimes in with a late night remedy, to sleep on it. “It would be a shame to waste [a] perfect night like this,” he adds, noting how unproductive their war of words has gotten across a melodic sea of optimism.
Last week, “Sleep on It” was the most added new song on the Billboard UAC chart. Check out the single in this very special First Listen and let us know if you’re feeling it or “sleeping on it.”
