It’s tough to talk about R&B music of the 80s and 90s without mentioning Full Force. The group from New York wrote and produced hits for just about everybody and helped shape the music of the day. Full Force returned to recording recently, and brought a lot of friends along for their album With Love From Our Friends (see our review). The disc included a number of new gems and a lot of great performances.
One of the songs that stayed a bit under the radar is a terrific number that features Howard Hewett, Regina Belle, Cheryl “Pepsi” Riley and the Good God Choir, and it is a real winner. “From These Lips to God’s Ears” is a song of faith and overcoming the obstacles that hit all of us from time to time. And it’s a killer song, to boot.
