(April 18, 2018) Say the name Freddie Jackson and you’ll get a reaction from anyone who even came close to a radio in the 1980s and 90s. With ten #1 singles to his credit, including classics like “Rock Me Tonight” and “You Are My Lady,” Freddie practically defined urban adult contemporary during its heyday.
Last year we were happy to premiere a new single from Freddie called “One Night,” and we’ve been anxiously awaiting more new music from the souful crooner. This week he returns with a classy upbeat number on the Climax Entertainment label. Boasting an 80s groove and strong orchestration, “Without You” finds Freddie pushing the upper end of his register as he does a call and response with his background singers on an attractive adult soul cut.
