First Listen: Frank McComb helps create a “Winter Wunderland”

(November 5, 2025) Don’t let the familiar title fool you. This is not your father’s (or grandfather’s) Christmas song. The name “Winter Wunderland” may evoke memories of fanciful conversation with clerical snowmen, but this “Winter Wunderland” is not that “Winter Wonderland.”

“Winter Wunderland,” one of the first contributions to the Christmas musical canon for 2025, is a steppers anthem with some jazzy keyboard work and vocals from Frank McComb, and featuring Lil’ John Roberts and his band with special guest U-Nam on guitar and the Omina Session Strings. This is what you get when a group of indie soul heavy hitters come together to step up the quality of Holiday music offerings.

McComb vocal glides easily over the steppers groove and he paints a picture of a holiday Christmas where lovers, family and friends celebrate in harmony. “Winter Wunderland” provides space for each player to shine individually while being coordinated as an ensemble. U-Nam adds his signature R&B infused jazz on guitar, while the string session engages in atmospheric conversation with the backing vocals on the hook of this cut that is composed, co-produced, and arranged by James Day.
