(July 26, 2016) These days, as far as the ears can hear, every other song getting airplay these days is about getting out or getting it on. The reason for that is likely convenience, because showing up with the required body parts and applying them accordingly isn’t a challenge, but true emotion is different, and that’s what Chi-Town’s Fel Davis is giving us a taste of with his single, “Give You,” from his new solo set, Eleven.
When R. Kelly left his original group Public Announcement for a solo career, Davis stepped in place as lead vocalist. He’s still a part of the collective, but with “Give You,” Fel is showcasing his vulnerable side and hearkens back to ‘the good ol’ days’ when men were about showing and proving while “giving everything we have to a relationship” to see where love goes. It’s a buoyant, breezy and instantly appealing mid-tempo, one that will feel familiar to PA fans as it demonstrates Davis to be compelling enough on his own artistic terms.
