(December 10, 2022) Eric Seats is a man who stays busy. When he’s not working as executive producer of The Next Great Drummer, a program that follows aspiring drummers competing to earn the title as top drummer in their respective cities and with the goal of winning an international drumming competition, Seats is working with the Key Beats, Inc. production team.
As a drummer and producer, Seats has worked with artists from multiple genres, including hip-hop, gospel, R&B and pop. He’s produced songs for movie soundtracks, including “Independent Woman,” which was featured in the movie Charlie’s Angels.
So, the quality of his new song, “That Good Love,” will come as no surprise to anyone familiar with Seats’ history. Still, this tune featuring lead vocals by crooner Will Preston, is more evidence R&B balladry is alive and well. With Preston doing the singing and a musical arrangement that leans heavily into that classic R&B sound, this is a track that will go down easy with fans of the slow jam.
In Preston, a longtime SoulTracks favorite, Seats selected a vocalist who know how to speak the language of love. Preston opened 2022 with his heart in his hands on the song “The End,” in which he confronts the end of a relationship. “That Good Love” finds him on the other side of the relationship spectrum as he asks for another taste of what his lady gives.
