(January 31, 2024) It seems like it’s the mission of songwriters to find a different ways to express feelings of love and desire. Some are more creative, eloquent and, dare I say, tasteful than others. Regardless of how the words are arranged, the sentiment remains the same.
Eric Roberson acknowledges and addresses this reality in his new song “Here For You.” The King of Indie Soul makes clear what makes the oft stated words resonate with the recipient is the sincerity and transparency of the sender.
On “Here For You,” Roberson continues moving in the direction of using arrangements that are acoustic, simple and folksy to deliver messages that are inspiring, insightful and, in this case, romantic. “Here For You” is a mid-tempo, dreamy, tune that encourages listeners to draw inspiration from the fact that there is nothing new under the sun.
Love is not new, and neither are the words and deeds used to express it. However, true love can inspire us to create novel ways to display our love. Or as Erro eloquently states: “’Here For You’ was inspired by the fact that everything already exists. Nothing is new, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be authentic to us. Love is not new. The words I love you have been said a trillion times. Yet, if our hearts are in the right place, those words can feel like they’ve never been said before. So, it’s more about realizing what is authentically ‘Here For You.’”
The music video for “Here For You” drops as Roberson marks 30 years of making music. He embarks on his 30th Anniversary Tour with a Feb. 10 concert in Pittsburgh. Check out the video for “Here For You” by Eric Roberson here.
