October 22, 2018 — There is an abundance of riches available lately when it comes to new R&B/soul artists who respect the history of the genre but who also are working to bring it forward. We’ve previously covered Daniel Caesar, Kevin Ross, SZA, Amber Mark, Esnavi, Malia and several others who capture the original spirit and feel of the genre but are adding their own signature sounds and textures.
Ella Mai and H.E.R. are two other of our favorite such young artists, and we were excited to hear that they have collaborated on a new track, “Gut Feeling,” included on Mai’s recently-released, eponymous full-length album. The two seamlessly trade verses like seasoned pros and otherwise compliment and support each other’s warm, authentic voices. Enjoy.
