First Listen: d’Z and friends say a joyful “Hello”

(May 18, 2026) Hans-Peter de Zeeuw who goes by the stage name d’Z, said that he wrote the song “Hello World” 30 years ago, but the tune got its debut on April 17. “Hello World” is a song that’s topical, relevant and upbeat.

In one sense, the phrase “hello world” is a greeting. It is a way for a person to tell everyone that they are ready to face whatever the day has to bring. is a status check masquerading as a musical greeting. “Hello World” the song gives off that vibe, but there is also a deeper message, and that animating feeling is more of a status check. Evidence of the crisis that our world is in surrounds us.

Vocalists Jared Grant and Kjell Jacobson confront the crisis from the start, but they pivot to the song’s belief that love can overcome the troubles. “Hello World” features tight horns that bounce on a funky foundation established by the bass. The vocalists gain energy from this high powered and upbeat arrangement.

Producer d’Z notes that Steely Dan, Incognito, Tower of Power and Earth, Wind & Fire are some of the artists who have been inspirations, and you will hear that influence. Check out d’Z on “Hello World” here.
