(January 22, 2025) The Doggett Brothers quietly built up a loyal following throughout the 2010s with a trio of albums joyously permeated with shades of funk, jazz, R&B, and an eighties boogie sensibility. Collaborating with top-notch vocal talent such as Jarrod Lawson, Nate James, and Kenny Thomas, the duo took their homegrown sound from the small town of Gorleston in the Norfolk county of the East of England and established a collective featuring musicians from the radius of the UK.
The Doggett collective has been largely MIA since 2018’s Get High release, focusing on individual projects. The wait, however, for new material, will be over on Valentine’s Day with the group’s new single, “Falling,” featuring longtime vocal collaborator Coco Malone. Bristling with dreamy keyboard layers, a slyly grabbing bassline, and an unmistakably boogie-inducing beat, “Falling” captures the mind, body, and spirit with magnetic melody lines graced by ample space to savor the groove. Malone’s low-key delivery packs just the right blend of vulnerability and attitude to convey the tune’s familiar storyline in a memorable fashion. Andy Nimmo’s fluid alto sax punctuations round out the number with apropos finesse.
Welcome back The Doggett Brothers and take a First Listen—while getting your your groove on—to “Falling”!
