(October 2, 2024) People of a certain age may have had their first or most memorable slow dance to the all-time Heatwave ballad “Always & Forever.” And that version of the Rod Temperton classic will live forever.
But it is 2024 and there is a new, very different version of that song that getting people dancing in a different way. “& Forever” is the product of producers DJ Spen & William “Reelsoul” Rodriguez with vocals from SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Award winner Cleveland P. Jones. The song debuted in Chicago, and it has taken off at clubs around the world.
“& Forever” takes a tune that is locked in our memories and brings it forward in a way that makes it impossible not to move. And Mr. Jones’ vocals are exquisite, as usual.
