SoulTrackers are familiar with Abdul Malik Abbott aka DJ ABBY AB from the group B.O.S.S, which we’ve featured several times over the past few years.
Abdul is a sought-after producer, and in his latest project he teams with singer and songwriter Kia Muze for a groovy number that straddles the line between soul, pop and jazz. And Kia provides very nice vocals to top off “Speaking My Language.”
Abdul tells us: ““For this track I was inspired by soul music–producing legends like Isaac Hayes and Gamble & Huff with nods to Trevor Horn (Seal), Stuart Matthewman (Sade) and Timbaland (Justin Timberlake).” Kia adds, “The track had a romantic quality and as I thought about the romantic stages of a relationship, I likened it with people being on the same page or speaking the same love language, which is where the rest of the lyrics came from.”
