(July 30, 2025) Everyone is talking about peace these days. Peace, remains elusive because those who study war have the resources to continue their deadly work. It’s left up to the artists to remind people that peace is the way.
Songwriter Toney Lee has combined with vocalist Paula Brion, singing group Status IV and hip-hop artist BronxMcee as Diamond Rich on the song “Peace Line.” The tune is an upbeat number that has a danceable melody. Meanwhile, the lyrics create an image that has long and storied history in R&B, soul, and gospel music – that of a locomotive moving those willing to work for peace, love, and justice to a better place.
The Impressions captured that image and message in their song “People Get Ready,” as did the O’Jays with “Love Train.” Lee notes spreading the message of peace, love and understanding is as important now as it was in the 1960s and 70s. “The song is an inspirational message that me and my production (and) songwriting partner Big Bob Hunter came up with to let the world know that peace is what we need.”
