(May 24, 2022) Baltimore, Maryland has been extremely good to Devon Howard – growing up in the shadow of his songwriting father to graduating from The Baltimore School of the Arts. From there, Howard took the songwriting reins for the RCA recording artists Me-2-U, producing two Billboard charting singles and appearances on Soul Train.
Eventually, Howard found his solo niche on his 2007 music video for “Other Side of the Bed,” guided by acclaimed director Chris Robinson and earning a songwriting award from The Heineken Music Initiative/ASCAP Foundation. And he has taken his creamy Babyface-shaded R&B flavored ballads to several corners of the globe including Japan and Europe along with opening for icon Dionne Warwick and Joe.
When Howard is not giving back to his birthplace of Baltimore, he serenades the ladies with nineties-style romance, such as “Forever and Always,” his introduction to SoulTracks in 2021. His follow-up single, “Your Love Is,” declares a forever kind of love for a special someone. The minimal soundtrack is draped with synthesizers and electric piano, allowing Howard’s sensual soulful vocals to take full charge. Layers of background voices grace the hook echoing the overall sentiment of “beautiful.” And the soft beats and finger snaps adds the frosting to this mid-tempo groove. Be on the lookout for Howard’s upcoming CD Morning Son, but in the meantime, chill out in the intimate love zone with “Your Love Is.”
