First Listen: Detroit CentriX takes us for a ride

(September 22, 2026) It can be argued that one goal for any artist or group is to earn enough respect from fans and the industry to have the freedom and flexibility to release music on their own terms. Not being tied to a label’s timeline or direction can allow for a level of artistic expression free from outside pressures.

Two important members of the Detroit music community, Kathy Kosins and Paul Randolph, have returned as the supergroup Detroit CentriX with their third single, “Let’s Go Out.”

This is an example of everything working together to set the stage for a song. Kicked off by the sound of burning rubber, this groove is made for the Motor City. It’s a song meant to be blasted from your car, truck or whatever set of wheels you may have.

Kosins and Randolph’s call-and-response vocals simply encourage us to get out of the house and take a ride. The destination isn’t important; the desire to get moving is. And while the song gives off the feel of a summer anthem, its groove can fit comfortably into a playlist at any time of year.

Following the success of “What We Want” and “Ain’t No Wrong,” Detroit CentriX’s latest release continues to establish the collective as one that consistently delivers. With more music in the works, Kosins and Randolph look to add even more layers to their respective musical legacies while bringing new listeners along for the ride.
