“Our mission was to create a sound that encapsulated a soulful and well-rounded listening experience,” is what DangerFeel Newbies’ Soundcloud says about these newcomers with the old souls. Information on this increasingly mystical trio is scarce, but the Atlanta-based collective of DJ Mark Angel, keyboardist Darren “DJ” Wagner, and internationally acclaimed Hotlanta DJ, Jamal Ahmad, definitely lets their music do the speaking for them. Last year they snuck us a groove-heavy bit of urban alternative soul, “Gotta Live My Life,” featuring jazz ‘n’ soul chanteuse Julie Dexter crooning over a layered hybrid track of jazz, funk, and electrosoul.
After a yearlong absence, they’re back in the spotlight with the delectable duet, “Always With Me,” featuring a gravel and gravy J. Picolla and a honeyed Mashanda Faust on vocals. Rapturous and romantic, this summer soft jam is what summer nights are made for; just grab your boo, a brew, and lean back for a listen and a smile.
