(September 21, 2017) Courtney Pine made a splash in the music world three decades ago, combining jazz and R&B into a mixture that climbed the charts with the terrific album, Journey To The Urge Within.
He has continued to be a leader in the jazz world ever since, as well as a broadcaster on BBC Radio 2 in the UK.
Courtney is returning with the new album, Black Notes From The Deep,” his 19th. And the first single should make fans of both R&B and contemporary jazz smile. Featuring legendary singer Omar, the song runs with a steady, punchy beat, and, of course, killer sax riffs throughout. It is just the kind of jazz-funk-R&B blend that made Mr. Pine famous, and it just sounds terrific.
