(May 7, 2023) Called “the soul son of San Francisco,” Cornell CC Carter is a California native with an international fanbase who’s worked with the likes of Grammy-winning producer Narada Michael Walden (Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston) and legendary guitarist Carlos Santana.
Cornell believes that soul music is the food of life. So based on that philosophy, he is the chef who enjoys serving his fans tasty musical dishes. We at SoulTracks have been following his assortment of music for some time, which led to him being named New Artist of the Year at our 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards.
The latest dish on Cornell’s musical menu is an upbeat, danceable tune called “It’s So Nice,” which he wrote and produced. In the song, he tells the story of a man who’s about to leave a party but sees a woman who catches his eye, moving him to stay a little longer to get acquainted with her. As you listen to the groove while hearing the story unfold, you may be reminded of songs like Dwele’s “Find a Way” and Silk Sonic’s “Skate.” Even if not, “It’s So Nice” has the type of groove that’ll get you tapping your toes and/or nodding your head to the beat in no time. It could also be one of those cuts that you play in your car with the top down.
“It’s So Nice” is the first of a group of tracks being released prior to Cornell CC Carter’s upcoming album in the fall. Check out the song below.
