(June 8, 2026) SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Award winner Cornell CC Carter has won a following for bringing the winning sound of 70s and 80s R&B men forward to the 2020s, with a classic soul aura and consistently strong vocal performances.
For his latest single, and fresh off his performance at the London tribute show for Dexter Wansel, Cornell teams with legendary Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Narada Michael Walden (Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin) for a song that recalls the sound of Marvin Gaye’s best work. Gaye was a big influence for CC, and that influence shines through on the midtempo number on which a man proposes to his woman to just get away from the city and celebrate their love on a sunny beach.
