(July 29, 2019) Cornell “CC” Carter broke through to win New Artist of the Year at the 2018 SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards. However, the smoothness of his delivery, as well as the tightness of his musical and vocal arrangements, make it clear that this Bay Area native is not new to the game. As we noted when featuring his award-winning project One Love, Carter worked with James Brown, Ray Charles, The Temptations and Narada Michael Walton. It’s clear that he went to soul school, and it’s clear that Carter has learned well.
Fresh off last year’s accolades, Carter proves that he is not one to rest on his laurels. He’s back with “I See Love,” an up-tempo jam that will likely be embraced by steppers sets around the world. “I See Love” is a tune that finds Carter returning to the musical virtues that won SoulTrackers over in 2018 – namely an emotive baritone that is matched with arrangements that are at once orchestral and funky and lyrics that show us that good old-fashioned love and romance are always in style.
Check out “I See Love” right here. I think you’ll dig it.
