(May 28, 2017) He delivers a blend of soul, jazz, R&B and gospel, and he came to our attention thanks to longtime SoulTracks fave, Avery*Sunshine. Coriology is a native of Texarkana, Arkansas and was heavily influenced by some of the all-time greats.
“I am a creative soul & R&B artist. I’m influenced by the sounds of Prince, Raphael Saadiq & many other timeless soul voices. I have a deep love for classic soul music from the 70s. But in the 90s with the birth of Neo Soul, I begin wanting to make my own sound. Erykah, Jill, Musiq & D’angelo are a few that made my heart sing and ignited a passion to create my own music. My approach to music is all about vibe and energy. I want it to feel just as good as it sounds.
Our first exposure to his talent is via his cool new single, “Be With You,” a modern song with a classic soul influence: “One day last summer I was listening to Spotify and this song by Earth Wind & Fire’s (Show Me The Way) came on It stopped me in my tracks. Spoke to me, made love to my ears. I loved the feeling it gave me and thought I wanted to try and create something that felt like that. That night I wrote ‘Be With You’. ‘Be With You’ is a song about the butterflies you get when your crushing on someone. It’s a summer love song.”
