(September 13, 2023) Since the earliest days of SoulTracks, we’ve followed the pioneering indie soul career of singer, songwriter, and educator Conya Doss. The Ohio-based performer has been a steady force in the soul music movement, creating thoughtful, melodic songs that touch on all of the elements of love. Her performances won for her fans all over the world, as well as a Female Vocalist of the Year in the SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards.
It’s been a couple years since we heard new music from Conya, and that absence happily ends with her new single “4everlasting.” Featuring Cleveland multi-instrumentalist B. Golden, “4everlasting’ delivers a more straight-ahead dance groove than we typically hear from Conya’s, and the steppers from Chicago to Detroit to her own Believeland will pick up on that beat from the get-go.
Lyrically, on “4everlasting” Conya confesses her love (“there, I said it”) and details all the things she loves about her man, with a hope that this magical emotion can continue eternally. The message and the song are absolutely infectious.
