Longtime SoulTrackers know that the group Tavares holds a special for us. The first SoulTracks article ever was about Tavares, and the brothers from New Bedford, Massachusetts have been featured many times over the years.
While the Tavares brothers are still touring regularly, lead singer Chubby Tavares is also finalizing his second solo album. Working with well-known producer and songwriter Preston Glass, he will be releasing Can’t Knock Me Down on April 21st. And he’s giving SoulTrackers a sneak peek from the album with the first single, “No Place Else I’d Rather Be.” Preston wrote the song with Ryan Cox and was inspired by the classic Tavares single, “Remember What I Told You To Forget.” The idea behind the song is, “People who live together and have a relationship have their ups and downs. The most successful relationships are when people learn to work out their problems. In this song, it pertains to them realizing that there is no place else that either one would rather be. A true love song of hard work and devotion.”
It’s great to hear Chubby Tavares back and sounding so good. Check out “No Place Else I’d Rather Be” below and tell us what you think!
