(August 19, 2017) Longtime SoulTrackers know that the group Tavares holds a special for us. The first SoulTracks article ever was about Tavares, and the brothers from New Bedford, Massachusetts have been featured many times over the years.
While the Tavares brothers are still touring regularly, lead singer Chubby Tavares is also doing his thing. Working with well-known producer and songwriter Preston Glass, he released Can’t Knock Me Down awhile back. Now, the title track from that album has been remixed by the always terrific Nigel Lowis, and has risen to #6 on the UK Dance charts. The song now has more of a Philly soul feel that works just right.
It’s great to hear Chubby Tavares back and sounding so good, and Nigel’s work has made a good song even better. Check out “Can’t Knock Me Down” below and tell us what you think!
