(August 1, 2019) We’ve been big fans of Seattle-born, SoCal raised singer and songwriter Choklate since the early days of SoulTracks, but we kind of lost touch over the past few years. The talented songstress has spent that time in Los Angeles, working on her art but not recording.
Well, we’re glad to report that that drought is finally over, as Choklate has come out of the box with a brand new song and video that show off both her songwriting chops and her sense of modern production trends. Produced by R!O, Kamo Beatz w/ Kays played by Jon Buice, “Believe Me” has an urgency to its sound that is both compelling and aurally pleasing.
The associated video works just right, too. Choklate tells us, “We tried to capture the atmosphere of the song, which is simply the act of conquering the self. Discarding fear and taking the steps one inevitably has to in order to truly become the person, artist, human that they are destined to become.”
Check out the video for “Believe Me,” and welcome back Choklate to SoulTracks!
