Cheryl Pepsii Riley brings a vocal “Hurricane” again

(May 21, 2026) In the late 80s and early 90s,  Cheryl Pepsii Riley made quite a name for herself as a singer who could wring whatever she wanted out of a song. Her “Thanks For My Child,” produced by Full Force, became a classic, and she’s continued to be a fan favorite ever since.

Back in 2018, around the time that Cheryl was honored with an episode of TV One’s Unsung, she was featured on a single with songwriter extraordinaire James Day and noted guitarist/producer U-Nam.

As part of Day’s two disc 20 year retrospective, Rewind, that song, “Hurricane,” has been given a fresh take, with help from Tim TIO Owens and Karen Bernod. The new version virtually pops from the speakers, highlighting Riley’s fantastic vocal performance in front of a bright mix that has a “Song of The Summer” feel to it.

Check out “He’s A Hurricane” and joins us as we continue to enjoy the rebirth of 20 years of James Day hits.
