First Listen: Carvalho wants us to “Elevate”

(September 6, 2017) Birmingham, England based bassist, singer and songwriter Rob Carvalho says that he looked out at the state of the world and figured that the people needed something that was uplifting, and he strives to deliver that uplift on his recent album Watermelon Smiles. “Elevate” is a track that seeks to take listeners to a higher spiritual and intellectual plane.

Carvalho created a cut that is a throwback both in terms of the production techniques and the manner in which he uses the song to encourage people to spiritually and mentally prepare themselves to operate on a higher plane. The track mixes biblical imagery, as well as methods from self-help field, to call on people to be to live their lives fully and use their time wisely. Musically, Carvalho has created a funk track that recalls the late 1970s and early 80s right down to the handclaps. Check it out.
