(January 20, 2026) Singer/songwriter Candace Woodson has a survivor’s resilience and sense of purpose. Those qualities come through in her work ethic, creativity and joy for life in the face of some daunting challenges. A breast cancer survivor, Woodson sang at the wedding ceremony of John Mellencamp’s daughter 28 days after undergoing surgery in 2014.
Woodson has made good use of her new lease of life. She’s had a consistent presence on the charts and has earned her share of professional accolades. Woodson is poised to return to the charts with her latest single, “Say Yes.”
Woodson has a voice that reminds listeners of the soul singers that inspired her during her childhood in Kentucky and her college training at Tennessee State University. Those influences and training suit her well on “Say Yes,” a mid-tempo ballad that finds her soothingly wooing the man of her dreams. “Say Yes” is a romantic invitation where Woodson asks the man who has captured her eye and heart to throw off caution and embrace love filled present and future.
