(February 13, 2026) It would be hard to talk about the history of 1980s funk music without talking about brothers Reginald and Vincent Calloway. The Calloways spent the decade writing hits for their band, Midnight Star, as well as for Klymaxx, Teddy Pendergrass, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Natalie Cole and the Whispers. The Calloways opened the 1990s by writing the monster hit “I Wanna Be Rich” for themselves.
The hits slowed since then but their output during that magical decade helped them achieved the financial security they sang about. Reginald and Vincent Calloway have transitioned to production, but creators must create and the brothers have penned a Valentine song that might be inspired by a Yuletide classic about getting gifts from your true love.
“Til Valentine” finds Reggie Calloway counting down the days until Valentine and describing the gifts and romantic clues that his love deposited throughout the house. The tune has a “Twelve Days of Christmas Vibe” with romantic messages, candy and flowers replacing leaping lords and maids milking, or partridges in pear trees. There is a ring put on a finger in “Til Valentine.” Check Reggie and Vincent Calloway’s romantic ballad “Til Valentine” here.
