First Listen: Brother Reggie is easy on a Sunday morning

(December 13, 2022) SoulTrackers have been closely following the releases of DC-based singer and songwriter Brother Reggie for a few years now, mainly through his multiple installments of his Undercover Brother series of albums, where he puts his own unique spin on classic and “lost” soul songs from the past.

But even as he was promoting his latest single, a cover of the Isley Brothers’ “Footsteps in the Dark,” Reggie says that he “felt the need” to put out another release: It was a cover of the Delfonics’ “How Could You Take Your Love Away from Me,” but with new gospel lyrics that Reggie had added.

He has been performing the song, which boasts the well-known traditional title “How Great Though Art,” at festivals, and now has issued the recording as a new single.

This is a good way to start a Sunday morning. Check out “How Great Thou Art” and welcome Brother Reggie back to SoulTracks.
