(August 30, 2017) Brian McKnight has been doing his thing for a long time now, and he has typically been at his best when he is stylizing romantic ballads. That is much of what you can expect to hear on his brand new album, Genesis, and that is what he delivers in the single and video he released this week, “I Want U.”
The song starts with an acoustic piano that ultimately transitions into more of an electronic sound behind his expressive lead, singing about his need for his woman. And the accompanying video moves through an unusual scene at a masquerade party before ultimately leading to – you guessed it – the bedroom. Okay, so it isn’t a super-creative video, but it’s a decent song from an artist who is still delivering 25 years after “One Last Cry.”
