(September 25, 2026) In some ways they are unlikely collaborators, but in each of their genres – R&B and country – they are legends. Boyz II Men rode the top of the pop and R&B charts throughout the early 90s, wrapping their exquisite harmonies around both funky numbers and soft ballads. And it was a decade and a half later that Lady A became country music stars with the charttopping, Grammy winning hit “Need You Now.”
Now the two acts have joined together to sing about something bigger: their faith. “I Love The One” is the new single from the upcoming October 30 album The Chosen – Inspired By, with music from a diverse group of stars who have been touched by the first five seasons of dramatic television retelling of the life of Jesus.
In a statement to Billboard magazine, Boyz II Men told about their participation: “For us, the connection to The Chosen is really about what those words represent — being chosen, having purpose and trusting that God can use your life in ways you may not always understand. After more than 30 years together, we don’t believe this journey has been accidental. We’ve always felt there was a greater purpose attached to the gift we were given.”
The acoustic, piano-driven ballad has a praise & worship feel to it, with a message of gratitude for the gifts that have come from God.
You are the miracle maker
You are the new life creator
That’s who You’ve been again and again
You’re such a wonderful savior.
Stylistically, the song is a departure for Boyz II Men, but for a group that has experimented on styles from hip-hop to doo wop, it certainly isn’t out of character. It is yet another genre that the trio can conquer; and with Lady A, they deliver a credible song of praise and faith.
