Bobby Harden & The Soulful Saints give classic soul spin on “Feels So Good”

(December 14, 2021) Ohio-born, New York-based Bobby Harden has been working actively in music since the early ‘80s. In recent years, however, he’s risen to greater prominence as lead vocalist for The Original Blues Brothers Band. The continually touring outfit born from Saturday Night Live sketches in the late ‘70s garnered major success through movies and chart hits such as “Soul Man” and “Gimme Some Lovin’.”

Harden teamed up not too long ago with another tight group of musicians, Dala Records’ in-house band The Soulful Saints. The success of their first collaboration, “Runnin’ (to Get Your Love),” led to more recording. “Feels So Good” is the newest taste of the team’s output, produced in Brooklyn by Billy “The Kid” Aukstik.

Exuberantly opening with sweeping horns, strings, organ, and a bristling drum groove, the reflectively joyful tune’s first verse brings in astute retro guitar stylings to complement Harden’s conversational tone, while the chorus highlights the strings as he richly delivers the refrain with just the right measure of gusto and earnestness.
