(April 14, 2025) A traveling musician knows all too well the feelings that come with spending time away from loved ones while performing on the road. Being away from that special someone is no doubt very difficult. Nevertheless, even though there may be physical distance, a deep emotional connection can still be felt when that special someone is kept close in mind and heart.
That idea is explored in our latest First Listen, a tender ballad called “Your Thoughts Turn to Me” performed by Grammy-winner Barrington Scott “Bo” Henderson, former lead singer of The Temptations and Stylistics. This new love song is described as “beautifully depicting a man’s longing and frequent thoughts of his lady while he is away, emphasizing the deep connection between them.” It’s perfect for a Quiet Storm playlist — speaking of Quiet Storm, the melody reminds me of a smooth 70’s song – “I Can’t Get Over You” by The Dramatics, a group Bo performed and recorded with in 1979-80.
“Your Thoughts Turn to Me” was co-written by Henderson with Raymond “Uncle Ray” Coats. Coats approached Bo with the concept for the song, knowing Bo would bring it to life with both his pen and his powerful, dynamic vocals that have captured audiences for decades.
