(March 20, 2025) The begging song is an R&B staple. It usually begins with the singer (usually a man) realizing that the grass is not greener on the other side after being caught on the other side.
Our vocal protagonist then embarks on an effort to convince their aggrieved and possibly soon to be former lover that they’ve seen the light. This involves a lot of expressing a recognition of the virtues that had been taken for granted, and a whole lot of apologizing.
Bey Bright is an artist who has demonstrated an ability to craft infectious melodies. On his latest, “I’m Sorry,” he also shows that he knows how to mea culpa with the best of them.
Using his sleek, buttery tenor vocals, Bey adopts a conversational style as he confesses his faults and throws himself on the mercy of the court of love. Instrumentally, “I’m Sorry” is a percussive, bassy showcase of contemporary R&B beat driven instrumental arrangement paired with a classic tale of a man hoping his lady sees fit to give him a romantic mulligan. Check out Bey Bright making his plea on “I’m Sorry.”
