November 9, 2019 — Some songs capture you from the very first bar. The atmospherics immediately envelope you, like a veritable Jonah in the whale’s belly, and the artist takes you on a journey you hadn’t expected.
Such is the case with “California,” a track from the just-released debut album HAN by singer/songwriter Berhana. The artist, whose given name is Amain Berhane, hails from Atlanta and was originally studying screenwriting at the New School in New York City before pivoting to music a few years ago. His album is a delightful mix of classic and alt-R&B, and our featured track highlights the nooks, crannies and textures of his arresting voice floating atop a memorable melody. Enjoy.
