(June 26, 2020) We are in a season of loss, there is no denying. Pandemic and racial strife have taken a toll on our times, making some folks scared, some angry, some reflective, and some all three.
Singer, songwriter and musician Avery Sunshine, a multiple SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Award winner, has used time in quarantine to create new music, and to regularly perform online. And today, she released a new single that captures an element of these crazy times: the memories we will have of those we lost.
With a simple arrangement, Avery sings a touching ballad about those who are gone and our emotions as we recall them. “How Will You Remember Me” features a beautiful video of dozens of people holding up the names of family and friends they lost, the emotions obvious on their faces. And the video ends with Avery’s husband and music director, Dana, and then Avery herself, posting their own remembered person.
